Sarah Palin Backs Mike Ditka In Redskins Name Topic

Sarah Palin makes headlines and adds her two cents when it comes to the naming of the Redskins.

Mike Dikta was very vocal when it came to the topic of the Washington Redskins name. He said:

“This is so stupid it’s appalling, and I hope that owner keeps fighting for it and never changes it, because the Redskins are part of an American football history, and it should never be anything but the Washington Redskins. That’s the way it is.”

Dikta was very blunt with his opinion and he expressed a view that many perhaps feel. Sarah Palin now wrote this on her Facebook page:

“Nothing should surprise us lately; but when the Politically Correct Police bust Ditka, they hope the silent majority will cower under leftist control. My goodness, Ditka merely spoke his mind. This accomplished and esteemed coach knows there are big issues to be addressed in America today; there’s no intent to offend by referring to a team by the name they’ve proudly worn since day one and chose with pride in our native ancestry and obviously had absolutely no intent to insult; and the liberal media’s made-up controversies divide our country. The government’s intent to force any owner of anything, in this case an NFL entity, to change a name is the antithesis of the American way of working through differences. Ditka said he actually likes the Washington Redskins, and he’s a man full of commonsense [sic] and admired patriotism.”

Perhaps the only thing that their opinions have in common is the fact that there are more important things to worry about besides a name change. This probably opened the window for others to speak up and share their opinions on the name change.

  1. Dikta should change his opinion now. If Palin thought like Dikta then I know Dikta is wrong.
These people don’t get it. This is the year 2014, not 1904. We have to move on. There was a time that the “N” word was ok, and you can bet Palin would have been ok with it. Move on.

  2. You are right about part of this. It is definitely “time to move on”. It’s time to move on from all the PC bull—t that has plagued society for years. It is more important than most people think to stop this social discrimination of independent thought. Think about it.

  3. Mike Ditka took too many shots to the head while playing. He has an addled mind. Sarah Palin hasn’t got a clue, has never made sense, and really needs to go back to Alaska and take care of her own family and stay out of the limelight. There is no better example of “dumb and dumber.”

  4. If only Palin and Dikta understood that what she refers to as the “Politically Correct Police ” are actually native Americans. There are many organizations that have vocally opposed the name including the Cherokee, Comanche, Oneida and Seminole tribes, as well as the National Congress of American Indians, the largest intertribal organization, which represents more than 250 groups with a combined enrollment of 1.2 million.

“The ‘Redskins’ trademark is disparaging to Native Americans and perpetuates a centuries-old stereotype of Native Americans as ‘blood-thirsty savages,’ ‘noble warriors’ and an ethnic group ‘frozen in history,’” the National Congress said…”

Who is Palin or Dikta to decide what’s offensive to native Americans?

  5. Lets also get rid of the Yankee’s, Rebels, Vandals, Orangemen, White Sox, Red Sox heck lets not have any mascot names, they all offend someone. Get a life people, this country is falling apart and this is all you care about…SAD

  6. Nic_Driver, your are a prime example of a liberal moron. What about the Native Americans who support the name? For a number of years it has been a non-issue. Now, people with too much time on their hands along with a complete lack of knowledge and understanding of a historical fixture of the game have suddenly decided that the name is offensive. No, it is people like you who are offensive. And, BTW, don’t we as Americans have just a few things on our plate that are more important and do warrant our attention, like maybe how we get this poor excuse for a President out of the White House before the damage he has caused is non-repairable.

  7. Name calling is the first sign of someone insecure in their opinion. I won’t call you a Neanderthal for that reason. Palin should shut up and keep looking for Russia from her porch and Ditka is not anyone I consider a great mind. Genius is way overused in football. Ditka s=was good at his job. Not a genius. Not a philosopher. Shut up Mike.

  8. Thank you for your reply. Taking into account the comments about Ditka and Palin, I would suggest that Harry Reid and the rest of his liberal cronies should also shut up. They are neither geniuses nor philosophers and they certainly have little respect for tradition. That being said, this issue is more one of feeling rather than fact. No one wins that argument.
